Managing Virtual IT Projects

"The objective of this workshop is to provide the audience with an introduction to IT virtual projects and how project managers can effectively manage them. Virtuality in this context means "the extent to which project members are dispersed on geographical and other dimensions and rely on information and communication technologies for carrying out project goals". With the improvement in communication technologies and the desire of companies to remain competitive, more and more IT virtual projects are being launched. This presentation will focus on three key factors for managing virtual projects: communication, coordination, and control and will attempt to introduce some of the major research in this field as well as some insights into managing such projects."
